Clayton-Winchester First Responders
The Clayton-Winchester Firest Responders, in conjunction with Gold Cross Ambulance, respond to emergency calls within the Townships of Clayton and Winchester.
The Clayton-Winchester First Responders can maintain a roster of up to 20 members, of which we currently have 15. The First Responders officially went into service on March 31, 1995. Their first call was taken in April of 1995, and by the years end, they had responded to a total of 52 calls. At the end of 2008, the unit had responded to a total of 140 calls, bringing the total since 1995 to 665.
These calls included medical, trauma, and automobile accidents, and stand-by on fire department calls.
Along with responding to medical emergencies, the First Responders:
-
Assist with emergency medical coverage at various events in both Winchester and Clayton townships and area counties
-
Hold educational sessions at area schools and at various group meetings
-
Participate in ClaytonFest
Squad meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at the Larsen station at 6:30 p.m.
Anyone that would like to help serve the community by volunteering for the First Responders should contact any of the officers.
