2010 Garbage Schedule
Garbage and Single-Stream Recycling pick-up is every Friday.
1. Newspapers, cardboard & mixed office paper may be bundled or bagged in paper bags (plastic bags are not acceptable). Place all recyclable items LOOSE inside the recycling container.
a. Magazines, junk mail (including window envelopes) brown paper bags, mixed office paper, and cardboard is accepted in a brown paper bag placed within the recycling container.
b. Boxes from a 12-pack soda carton or cereal boxes are now accepted as recyclable.
2. Glass jars and bottles: clear or colored should be rinsed out to prevent odor problems and spilling.
a. Labels & covers may be left on.
b. Glass: such as light bulbs, window glass, drinking glasses & dishes are not recyclable.
3. Labels on tin and bi-metal cans are encouraged to be removed. Cans should be rinsed to prevent odor problems.
a. It is helpful to cut both ends of the can and crush them to save space.
b. Large metal items will not be accepted.
4. Aluminum cans should be rinsed &crushed to help save space.
5. Plastic #1 & #2.
a. If in doubt please check the bottom of the bottle for the recycling symbol and the numbers 1 & 2.
b. Plastic bags of any kind are not recyclable.
c. It is a must to rinse residue from plastic bottles.
d. Please remove caps from all bottles.
e. Plastic oil containers are not recyclable.
For Bulky items and Appliances, please contact Winnebago County Landfill for disposal charges.
YARD WASTE: Veolia does not pick up Christmas Trees in the Town of Clayton.
The town has a yard waste drop off site at the corner of Hickory and County Road II.
MARCH 1 - NOVEMBER 1: The site is open on Thursdays (except holidays) from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays (except holidays) from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
No hazardous waste will be accepted at the site.
