Dog Licenses: All dogs must be licensed at the age of six months. We must have proof of the rabies vaccination. New licenses are generally available around mid-December and must be obtained prior to April 1st. Registration is $5.00 for spayed and neutered dogs and $10.00 for non-spayed and non-neutered dogs. License can be obtained from the Town Office during business hours. Any dog registered after April 1st will be charged a $10.00 late fee unless it is a new dog.
Dog tags can be obtained when you pay your taxes or you can receive them through the mail. The application for the dog license is available by clicking on the link above. You will need to send along a copy of your rabies vaccination and a self-addressed stamped envelope. All dogs in the Town of Clayton must be kept in their owners yard at all times. Dogs are required to be on a leash or under voice control when not in their owner's yard. Operator's Licenses: Anyone who serves alcohol beverages must obtain an operators license. The cost for a license is currently $60.00 for two years. To obtain a license, you must have a valid/current operator's license or you must have taken a responsible beverage course. Operator's license must be renewed every two years prior to its expiration on June 30th of the second year. When you apply for a license, you will need a copy of your responsible beverage course certificate and a copy of your driver's license. You will also need to fill out an application through the link below. The Town conducts background checks through the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department with the Town Board making the final approval or denial. Please allow enough time for the issuance of the operators license.
